While at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, iPierian scientist Dr. John Dimos led a team whose work on iPS cell reprogramming was cited as part of the 2008 "Breakthrough of the Year" by Science magazine.
Pluripotent cells possess the potential to become many of the body’s specialized cell types. To utilize pluripotent stem cells for the study of disease, drug discovery and the development of new therapeutics, these cells must be transformed into specific cell lineages through iPS cell differentiation. iPierian is harnessing proven methods and developing novel technologies to direct the differentiation of iPS cells into the functional cells that contribute to pathology.
